EFI, Pump in Tank or Inline?

That still shows a 5/16 inlet. I guess it doesn't matter I can and probably will use AN fittings to match my fuel lines anyway. The conversation here just got me wondering about that for a bit.

I am having the same issue now with planning my fuel system.
Right now the car has a carb'd 5.3 that i am going back to EFI on.
I still have the stock tank and pick up with a Holley blue electric pump.
Last weekend I had decided i was going to get a GN tank and pick up with a Walbro 255. I picked up -6 line and fittings along with a Corvette filter/regulator setup.
pretty simple budget LS swap type stuff.
My biggest concern is growth. The plans for the car are to go turbo by spring of next year and be at around 600whp on e85.
So i'm worried about supporting the amount of fuel that going to require on Ethanol on the stock pick up even with a twin intank setup like racetronix.
What is messing me up right now is that a found a used sump'd tank for sale locally that is really cheap. and it is making me consider just going external but I really don't want a loud pump running all the time as well as a a sump and big ol' lines poking out the back of the car. I really want this car to be very clean appearing with subtle mods but kinda stock appearing except for the wheel.
 
I will put my 2¢ in. I used an Aromotive 340 pump and a Spetra sender. I made sure all my fuel system is E85 capable, so if I decide to go that route I am ready in that department. That is also why I went with the pump I did. If you are planning on going forced injected in the near future I would go with a bigger pump than a 255. I put adapters on my steel lines of the hanger. I am using the 3/8 feed line as my return and ran a new an6 line for my new feed. The return line adapter is 6an to 5/6 compression fitting. If I was going to do it over again, I would start with a better sending unit than the Spectra. You get what you pay for there. Made cheap and my fuel gauge is a little wonky. There are sending units out there that are a lot better and have bigger lines . I think you can buy a complete setup reasonable. Racetranics I think? If you research it on the Turbo Buick Forum you will find some different options. As for the access hole, that is just laziness! How many times do you plan on dropping the tank?

i just used the stock non baffled tank and haven't had a problem. i would also drop the gas tank instead of cutting a panel in the trunk. it's not bad to drop the tank.
IMO I would make an access cover so when you install the new tank if there is an issue with the pump, sender etc. you don't have to drain the fuel and and remove the tank from under the car you just open your cover and get to work.

The 255 is only going to be used as the NA setup as just about any other pump will over power the corvette filter. The -6 line is going to be used as a return when I go forced induction. For the FI setup I’ll will be running a -8 line as that would be plenty to feed my power goals on E85. I believe all the racetronics senders even the double pump is a 3/8 line to -8 which a pretty big restriction in itself. Considering that -8 is 1/2” ID. The only other sender I have seen is a billet one I posted in another thread.(I’ll find it and post it here as well) I has a half in line but not setup as a intank design.

I've had the Racetronix Walbro 255LPH GN Sender in my EFI rig for 10+ years. Has performed absolutely flawless without issue. When it goes, I'll go 340LPH replacement, but for my power level, rail pressure and injectors 255LPH is actually fine. YMMV.
