I made my own kit, instead of a relay I used a 75amp continuous duty solenoid and a thremo-switch be cool, Beware of the no brand thermo switches, they tend to be very inaccurate. another good thing i like with the solenoid is that i brought it at Oreilly's auto. or at least carry a spare 75amp relay since they are not common

a solenoid is relay....but I'm glad you mentioned it cause I never thought of using a ford type solenoid for the fan..

Its been awhile since had a Ford with a solenoid/relay on the fender(77 T-bird) can you tell me how to wire it up...........

the body needs to be grounded, there is two large terminals from the battery cable and to the target...there is one small terminal with an S on it for the power to trigger it..

You're right about the continuous service. The ford starter solenoids would not be recommended and I should have mentioned that when I said ford style. A warn solenoid used on winches would be that capable of handling the current and like I said I'm glad you mentioned it cause I don't trust those little relay's for the fan and this solenoid never crossed my mind. I'll be picking one up tonite

i also has the 2 speed fan but i bout it new from summit Dorman 620-101 and i just wired it in with 2 40 amp relays ant 2 toggle switches, one for high and one for low. I used only 40 amp relays because the fan is new and it dont pull as much juice at start up but about the same output as the original ones. I dont know the cfm on the dorman fan i have and its not on the summitracing wedsite either but i havent had to use the high speed not once because the low speed keeps my temp around 175 to 185 at any give time. when i turn on the low speed the voltage hand barely twitches and when i turn on the high speed it momentarily drops to about 12 volts then right back up to 14. Plus brand new at summitracing the fan is only about $100 so compare that to the salvage yard lincoln fan like those at $25 to $70 and the $300 to $500 flexalites and derale fans its a steal.
