Electric Fan

I finally settled on a fan. I went with a Flex-A-Lite 16" fan. I had a shop bend some aluminum and made a shroud so I'd have something to mount it onto. It turned out really well. It's all back together. I'm finishing up the wiring and I should be back on the road. I'll be sure and take some pictures for an update. Thanks for all the advice. 😀

I used those plastic ties from Advanced Auto to mount my fan.

They have foam pieces to reduce vibration.

those ties will always eventually become loose and rub a hole through the rad..I'm speaking from experience.. :?

I the same thing happen with my radiator. My trans cooler ripped the radiator in two spots; those zip-tie things are a temp. fix at best. I'd loose them as fast as possible.

A lil late, but I have dual fans out of a Dodge mini van, They fit great (same as the Intrepid?). made an upper mount for them and have a $25 Flex-a-Lite controller. Works great.

I would like to do this as well, how does the wiring work for this application? I had a car that had a manual electric fan that I had to turn on when hot and off when I turned the car off, I always seemed to leave it on at night only to wake up to a dead battery.

Thanks

There are a number of controller options out there, google "electric fan contoller" and you'll be presented with a lot of options.

This is how my Dodge Intrepid fans are set up in my Monte SS.

Thanks. I like pictures. 🙂 they help a lot. BTW approx. how many HP did you gain from eliminating the parasitic draw of the fan?

I'm not sure. If I had to guess I would say 10HP from when the clutch fan was fully engaged.

What I do know for sure is that I could honestly feel the difference right away, that's why my guess is 10HP or so.

Cool. Thats about what I figured, thats about a 5-7% increase in HP. Not bad for a fairly easy (looking) install.

Do you think this one

or this would work better

On an 1980 MC if i can't find the dodge fans.
