The Thing about olds in a olds and chevy ina chevy is that GM didnt even do that in the 1980's ..... they skimmped out on us and we have to suffer with the 3.8 and the 305 in our Oldsmobiles this is such a pain to me for the sake that I need to swap out so many parts now....

Wouldnt a Buick 350 hook right up to my system?

And look what happened to GM! Seriously, those guys have no clue. Did you know that a class action lawsuit againsts GM was made ( late 70's I think ) when customers bought an Olds and realized afterward they had Chevy lumps in them? people were outraged.

Yes they screwed you guys up there. It really is/was unfortunate, but think of how cool it would be to correct GM's mistake and drive around a kick *ss Oldspowered car like it was meant to be. You would score lots of cool points for sure.

That's what everone says and a Buick 350 is a decent engine too but IMO, I think an Olds 350 is better. Since your car's already setup for a Buick engine it may be a decent option to consider but it won't score as much cool points as an Olds motor ( but WAY more cool points than a damn Chubby ).

With the amount of reliable pump gas power you want you are getting to where its very hard to attain with a traditional small block of any make without spray. Barring major money complete aftermarket motor crates. Big blocks or turbo GNs stretch what is realistically attainable under that criteria. And naturally the small fuel injected Buick has the easy time hitting the mpg part.

My GN will get about 22 hwy, my 509 Caddy 442 gbody pulled off 17 hwy (Q-jet, 200-4R, working lock up) from the links I gave you a while back on another thread Robert Powers gbody Olds 455 15 hwy & Dwights gbody Olds 455 like crazy 20 hwy. Both Q-jet, Overdrive, working lock up. All of these cars hit your criteria and ran 12.0 to 12.5 street tired & full exhaust at 109+mph in the 1/4. All were put together by more than a mad hack with cheapest ingrained first in his brain.

i done a small block chevy 377 stroker in my cutlass !!! u can check it out on u tube its under.. 8) dannos bad *ss cutlass

If your Cutlass had an Olds 307 to begin with I would say the no-brainer choice would be an Olds 350 or 403. I really like the idea of an Olds in an Olds.

However, your car has the Buick 231. If you have decided that you want to go with a carburetor setup then the easiest choice is the Buick 350. It will be the easiest and quickest swap. That said it wouldn't be that hard (just more involved) to go the turbo 6 route as the engineering has already been figured out. Heck there are a few that have turbocharged the original na 231 without upgrading the rotating assembly (I just wouldn't push that too far). The idea of a BOP engine in a BOP car is all right in my book.

I would make sure whatever you do, go with an OD and good gears, and pay attention to the details and do it right.
