Ok. I finally got the lower seal in between the pan and the timing cover. Leak fixed! Now I have to figure out y my temp gauge is getting so high. For the first minute or 2 it doesnt move, all of a sudden the temp climbs to about 220-230. I dont know if it will keep climibing, so I shut it off.

I have my water temp gauge-- threaded in right next to the stat and right under the upper hose. Im using a 160 stat I believe. No smoke from the exhaust whatsoever. I dont know the cause.
I also have a 16in 2100 cfm electric fan pulling from the rad into the engine compartment. I turn it on before I start my engine. Thats temporary.

What could it be?

this may sound dumb but is the thermostat upside down. ive done it and never felt dumber lol. but it will make them get hot fast. its just an idea

I would bring the radiator to a professional radiator shop. And get his take on the condition of your cooling system.
Are you running a recent rebuild or any other changes to your car. sometime they say that too much machining of the cylinder walls can make a motor run hot. Check the obvious things first. T-stat , water flow, radiator hoses, water pump impellor intact, free flowing radiator( No epoxy repairs). A bad radiator cap can release your coolant into the resevoir prematurely, or onto the ground. and on and on..........

I added a new cam in the SBC but thats about it.
My rad is in good shape and has no past or present repairs at all.
