I just got back from Jamaica working on the Honda airbag recall. Thought I'd post up a few pics of the odd stuff I worked on there, if any of you guys might be interested.
This is a Honda Stream. They seem to be quite popular there. It would be the equivalent to an Accord wagon but with a Civic engine.
Stepwagon. 7 passenger minivan about the size of an Element.
Accord wagon. If we got these in the states I'd probably own one.
Accord Euro-R. I'm told they're quite rare in any market but very rare in Jamaica. It's an Accura TSX here with some sport options. All of them are 6spd manual.
We were working with local Honda techs and my partner was very knowledgable about all the models worldwide, especially for such a young guy. He also was telling me that there is a minimum 100% duty on all imported vehicles plus additional taxes based on engine displacement. A new CRV runs about $60k USD which is about $7.6 million dollars there.
Most of the cars there were imported from Japan but also quite a few are wrecked US cars that were rebuilt (most poorly) and shipped out of Miami.
