is it true if you spray ether through your pcv valve and your engine revs up that you have an intake leak? I did this test today and my motor reved up, but an onlooker threw in his 2 cents of "of course its gunna make it rev up, thats a vacuum" So is this test accurate in telling me theirs a leak somewhere on my intake?

ether

you got your moneys worth he's right. if you pull the pvc out of the cover you need to block it off because it is a vaccum leak ,now spray into the cover if you have leak on the bottom side it should show up. don't spray a lot of ether only bad things can happen

let me reiterate that BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like jesse said, don't use a lot.

I thought you were supposed to spray it around the sealing serfices of the intake. If it is getting sucked in anywhere but the throttle, that is where the leak is and the rpms will change. I have also heard of people using water, propane, carb cleaner, etc.

that's one of the other tests. basically any seal near the induction system can be tested this way.

It shows that things are working normally. Now, if you sprayed it around something that is supposed to be sealed, and is exposed the vacuum of the intake plenum and it sped up, there is a leak at that point. You should not be spraying it into things that are disassembled as it is a test of proper functioning of assembled systems.
