Ever just want to quit?

I hurt my back really bad, stopped working on anything and only laid on my back for months after removing the body from the frame. Then had back surgery. It's been sitting 4' in the air for two years. All better now and the body goes back on tomorrow.

My .02 is to step back, honestly evaluate the car and see if it's worth spending time & money on. If it is, keep it until you can do what you want, otherwise sell it and wait to find another

You're going to have to laugh it off and go with it. Because I can tell you if you plan on going racing, you're going to have many weekends where something stupid jumps up and bites you. And if you can't laugh it off. Racing ain't the hobby to get into. I have been going to the track for 38 years and just sold my race car a month ago. The headaches that car caused could make a series of books bigger than Harry Potter!!!!

I know the racing game. It's trying to turn this turd into a street car that's killing me. The racetrack closed down by me so that's a no no

I think most of us know the feeling. Seems every time I save up some money, i get hit with another bill that helps suck the car fund dry. But I still have enough parts and work to keep progressing a bit, I'll worry about the next dollar I need to spend when there's no more progress to be made.

i know I've gotten discouraged over the years because the progress isn't by leaps and bounds,at least not in my tax bracket..it's by small attainable goals.these guys are rite, sometimes it's best to envision the bigger picture/ what you want your end game to be and foremost be honest with yourself too.

Absolutely. I had my truck apart like this-

And my Regal apart like this-

I had plenty of times where I thought "How in the hell am I ever gonna get this back together?" But slowly and with help from other people, I did. I was determined to get them back together and not let them become lost hope parts piles. The Regal still doesn't have a motor it in, but it is otherwise back together. Don't lose hope. Good luck.

Here's those projects now.

peppers If you really want to see perseverance/heartbreak/success look at some of the build threads on H.A.M.B. Those guys are building cars from a single panel in their own garages and random pieces of sheet metal.

This is a great forum with tons of knowledge and lots of great people wanting you to succeed with your project.

Jump right in, we're here.

after putting in the 7th transmission in the Grand Prix within a year?yes, I've thought about giving up...
after 5 years of having the Cutlass, and still not having a straight title? yes, I've thought about giving up...
after pulling the Regal apart, and it sitting virtually untouched for the last 3 years? yes, I've thought about giving up...

I think about the end goals, and how they put all the bad things in the past when things finally come together, or hearing the engines fire to life,or even the limited amount of driving time I got with the GP in the last year. like some of the others have stated, sometimes you have to step back and evaluated the situation. tine, money, skill set,and location to work on the car are huge factors.

me? I just can't seem to part with any of mine, even though it makes better sense......
