Ever just want to quit?

Over the last 10 years that i've had my Regal there were numerous times I thought about giving up and just selling it. I'm so glad I didn't. The 2 best times i've had with it was the first time I fired up the engine and its actually ran! (This was my first engine build) and when i first saw it come out of the paint booth. Made it all worth it. You'll get there, dont give up.

I've had times where life comes into the picture and want to start over with everything. I drove 5hrs to get the exact car I wanted and contemplated getting rid of it a few times but the people who really knows me, know that I'm just caught up in the moment and brings me back to reality.

A funny thing happened to me today. I had been looking for a center console for this my car since I got it 2 years ago and finally got one a couple weeks ago. Grand Prix consoles are hard to come by so the first one I was able to get my hands on was a little cracked but it was most certainly salvageable. I was repairing the cracks it had and while letting the epoxy dry, had it sitting on top of the garbage can outside. Wouldn't you know a gust of wind blew it off the garbage can and the console broke into many pieces. :wtf:

I didn't even get upset or discouraged because I knew there were much worse things in life that could've happened. I glued it back together and now it's stronger than it was before. I know this was a lengthy post but moral of the story is and just like everyone else has said, we all get frustrated and have many thoughts but if we just stick with it the end result will be worth it.

I think we all have times in our life where dealing with adversity can test our limits. The best thing to do is to have a good talk with yourself and be honest with what you can and cannot do at the moment.

My nephew was given a 70’s VW that was in pieces a few years ago and could not resist. Had a new rebuilt motor and transmission, but it had to be put together with some body work, etc. Well 2 years has passed and it is now more then half together and still much to go. It takes up his garage and he has no idea when it will get done. Work, health issues, and money dictate when he can work on the car. He just does not worry when it will get done. Sometimes months go buy without anything done. He will not give up on it, he just gets frustrated so much is going on in his life where he cannot do everything he wants. I think we all have that frustration now and then?

If you read the rules of this forum you have given up your rights to quit by joining the forum. I read of one member who did try to quit had to join the witness protection program...this is the last picture of him before he went into hiding......😗

When we are pre-training Junior Officers for a career in the Infantry the following words are given:

Failure is acceptable, at times even expected. Learning from failure is required, repeated misteps are unacceptable. Quitting is not an option.

Approaching life, and cars, with this attitude increases your success rate - but, there are no guarantees either.

I always wondered what happened to 85cutlassbrougham.......

When my El Camino got hit head on in 2007, I was so discouraged and pissed off. I shoved it in a corner and covered it up until early 2010. My wife is the one that got me to drag it out and in her words " Do it the way you have always wanted it, or you need to get rid of it".... Now I am glad I fixed it, it has been totally worth it. We enjoy the hell out of it now. So I hope you keep on trying to finish your build.

I got my malibu off a buddy I've known since elementary school. Plan was build a racecar with my daughter. After pulling some of the interior I found the rear sheet metal completely hacked out for a speaker system. So I made braces. Then I got the carpet out and the floor is gone. Like literally came out with the carpet. Don't know how I didn't fall through it.
That was the first maybe this ain't worth it moment.
Low and behold from another friend I sourced a floor. In the meantime my other friend had a set of aluminum heads and a 8.5 rear. Well now that was on a small trailer that was stolen off his property. It's like a greater power is trying to keep me from building this car[/QU

I've been chasing an intermittent issue that makes my car undrivable...for over a year now. Every time I get really frustrated or lose motivation on it, I always tell myself "it doesn't cost me anything for it to sit there." Sometimes its worth it for me to take a step back, gather my thoughts/money and come up with a plan. Then it seems like things just fall into place and my motivation is back.

I feel the same way about my cutlass build. seems like everytime i think things are going fine bam there goes something else the latest thing is the kick down cable broke and everyone I get won't fit in the transmission. I've ordered for the TH350 and TH 200 with all the money I got tied up in this car to have a $8.99 part keep me from getting done just makes me wonder if it is worth it.
