Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

I went the amazingly cheap way.
I went to pull apart, got duals all the way back with perfect tips.
No muffler no Cats just glass packs. I paid a whopping 20$ best money I have spent on this car and might I say the cheapest.

Here's a video, got to watch for a minute and I give you a good sound when I put the camera down in the rear.

Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

No offense to the posters who posted sound clips, but I wouldn't base any purchases based off of them because your setup is completely different AJ88. An Olds with manifolds, crossover, and 442 style duals isn't going to sound like a Chevy with headers and true duals.

I can't make any muffler recomendations because I don't know what Flowmaster 40's sound like on an Olds ( I've just heard they're too lound and drone....), but I can make this recomendation; if you actually want some performance and milage, dump the crossover and get a custom made Y pipe that connects to your catback or just go true duals. That crossover setup is choking your engine. Even a 307 needs to breath!

you are correct about the drone. on wot for long distances the drone will put you to sleep...thats really my only complaint.

Good point DoubleV. I am still running the stock 307. Thanks for the help. Anyone with a nice cat-back on a 307?

Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

I'm running a Flowmie on mine with no cat, set me back 500 including labor. If you know people or check Ebay and Craigslist for a couple weeks, you can get a new flowmaster system for hundreds less than most retailers will charge you. In short, you can get yourself a 40 for the same price as a lesser quality cheaper exhaust if you're willing to look around for a couple weeks. Also check local exhaust shops, many have nice overstock parts or stuff people ordered and backed out on they'll sell you for dirt cheap, and hook you up with a good installation price.

Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

I had Flow master 40's installed 3 yrs ago. The link below is a clip of the car running. But i agree with DoubleV, I wouldn't make my decision off a sound clip, not an accurate sound. I had these put in back when i had a 350 in the car with mild cam, no cats and dumping behind the back tires. They made a constant humming but it sounded more like a constant base note. Real irritating to say the least. Ended up spending $500 for the complete dual exhaust setup installed with dumps, tips, and mufflers. No h/y pipe.
