i've got my stock 307 with flow tech headers, ran it true dual with gabriel mufflers, and sqaure tips on the side, looks and sounds good.

The stock cat is really restrictive and probably half plugged. If you don't have emissions testing, remove the cat and put in a piece of pipe. You will not only get more sound, more power too.

I'm putting true dual exhaust on my 4.3 car. 2.25 piping to two thunderbolt welded mufflers . Its the system I had on my old 305 Monte . I'm gonna dump them with just some elbows from the mufflers. Just don't know if I should run a hpipe or xpipe our the correct place to add either.

Are high-flow cats any good for more sound and if so which ones are the best?

88 Cutlass Supreme, Jegs True Duals. It was about $280 including the full length headers. The mufflers are similar to super turbos.

http://youtu.be/IL7rGaQ6RSA these are a set of mufflers i found on ebay called flow monsters 60.00 for two plus shipping oh yea its a sbc 377 with headers and 2.5 inch pipes and dumps out in front of rear end

Does anyone know if I will get a check engine light if I remove my cat? Also, how bad will the fumes be?

No.

If by fumes you mean exhaust, then it will be fine as long as your car's tuned up right. My exhaust was perfectly fine when I removed my cat, but it did smell a little different and was somewhat stronger but you'd only notice it if you sat behind the car breathing in the exhaust, not in everyday driving situations. If it were me, I would'nt worry about excessive oder. Remember, no car before 1975 ever came with cats and they were just fine.
