Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

I found a flowmaster 40 cat-back dual exhaust system for $240 shipped. A Monte ss cat-back system will work on my 88 Cutlass right? Thoughts? Also, it looks like some of you think it's a bit too loud so how does it compare to the pypes street pros?

Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

By the way it's 2.25 diameter. Is that an issue? Thanks

Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

it all depends on the bends, are they the same year? loud pipes save lives!!

Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

Should work tho...

Re: Exhaust on a budget recommendations SOUND CLIPS WELCOME!

Well I'm hoping it will sound nice and deep but not too loud that it becomes annoying. I'm also hoping the fact that I'm running a stock 307 with manifolds, cat, y-pipe, and 2.25 inch piping will keep it somewhat restraint and not overpowering.

Are you really running a custom Y pipe off the manifolds or are you really running the stock crossover pipe and single downpipe to the cat setup?

A Monte style catback is NOT a direct bolt for a stock cutlass exhaust. You'll need a different flange welded to the outlet of your cat which any exhaust shop should have.

Yes I was a little confused. I'm running the stock crossover pipe and single downpipe to the cat setup. I have the stock single exhaust at the moment. Thanks for the help.

Got a great deal on a Flowmaster 80 series exhaust for my cutlass. It sounds great but I was wondering what would make it a bit louder. Would a high flow cat help much? What are the cons of running without a cat? Probably should have held out for a 40 series but oh well. I may end up swapping it out for one. The 80 basically sounds like a quieter 40 series.
