you want the x-pipe right off the headers, while the gas velocity is still high. i believe that he did it later due to space restrictions. if you run a straight forward dual it won't be a problem.

i'm not saying he did anything wrong. it's a cool looking effective set-up.

check out pypes performane exhaust. they carry a very good system and there is a picture gallery.

i saw their product on summit but its just too expensive for me...I'll check their website though.

i dont think i'd have room for an x pipe either.

i just looked, all the pypes exhaust systems start as one inlet and then go to dual. im doing the straight duals like you said. oh well.

their site is a little confusing when on the systems page. you're looking at the cat-back systems. look for the SGG12 in the header back section.

wow i didnt see the installs section for some reason. i must have been browsing too lightly.
they run the pipes straight under everything on that monte. I dont know if the elky under-body humps are lower or what but I have definitely scraped my exhaust already with just the header extentions. BUT then again, i was running it UNDER the cross member on the driver side. that cross member is notched.

so maybe i wont have a problem running the exhaust straight back instead of routing it close to the driveshaft after all

yeah i have the gforce crossmember, they have other montes up on their install page, check em out. with that cross member u should be fine, jegs sells one for a little less, but the gforce is much nicer. you should be able to find info on the iceman off maliburacing.com i think hes a lil cheaper than gforce

the iceman is a guys username or something?

dont forget, i have an el camino, but they all fit, right? I dont have a whole lot of money to spend. I was planning on just cutting and boxing in the notch on my own but I probably wont have a welder until christmas.

never mind on the jegs crossmember, it says does not fit el camino

is the cross member from iceman that skinny little piece? are you sure that would be strong enough?

the other ones are 220 bucks, i dont have that at the moment but it looks necessary to make the exhaust do what im trying to do.

that guy ran his like i thought you had to run it to keep ground clearance...but if its not necessary i certainly wont do it lol

well you might try ebay, anyways the pypes site states that there is excellent ground clearance. ill let you know when mine is shipped and installed. ill take pics for sure
