i have the g force crossmember in my monte carlo with the 2004r and it is really nice. My dad has an 85 el camino with dynomax long tube headers and dynomax makes a kit for g body dual exhaust which we put on the el camino.. I think it is a really nice kit except for a few minor things; you have to add about 10 inches of pipe before the mufflers because of the longer frame of the el camino compared to the monte carlo. The passenger side pipe goes under the stock crossmember where the cat was nicely,,and the driver side pipe has a real nice set of bends that goes under the crossmember. based on my experience (dont hold me to this) this kit is only really helpful if u are running a th350 transmission because that is the crossmember that the drivers side pipe is bent to go under. I had the kit in my monte carlo with the 2004r and it sat way to low b/c i had to twist it to clear the 2004r crossmember which sits back further on the drivers side. It was really reasonable and we got it from autopartswarehouse.com which had it to our door in like 3 days...thats my two cents

i dont want no bent pipes so i'm gonna have to get the crossmember most likely. Looks like i'll be waiting to save up for it. temporarily i will have to find a way to route the exhaust though because the noise is unbearable when driving. i'll figure something out.
thanks for that website, looks like they got some decent prices on all kinds of stuff.

okay guys, still looking at cross members.
can anyone tell me why this would not fit an el camino but it would a monte carlo and other g bodies?

its not a bad price at all considering the other ones ive seen. I checked out that iceman products cross member and its like just a tube of "chrome molly steel" and only connects with 2 bolts instead of four like the other cross members. I'd consider it but he's asking near 200 bucks including shipping, i'd rather just around that for a name brand cross member that looks sturdier

im reviving this thread because i'm finally getting around to welding up my exhaust. I need to order some pieces because I cant run pipes straight off the headers. What I'm worried about is running the exhaust pipes too close to the driveshaft. But when the car is lifted up the driveshaft drops down correct? Should I run the exhaust pipes under the dropped driveshaft position considering the suspension would allow the driveshaft to drop that far in certain situations anyway? I'm afraid my exhaust is going to be hanging too low.

exhaust

i don't know for sure but i think that's one of the reasons muffler shops use drive on racks... but i could be wrong 😀

thats a good point. But I dont necessarily want my driveshaft slamming down onto my exhaust everytime I jump a ramp.

thanks. i dont know how i missed that one when i was browsing their site. Those x-pipes are not very cheap though...otherwise it looks like its the easiest set up as far as working around the driveshaft. I wonder if it vibrates up against the underbody at all.

i'll let you know as soon as i get some warm dry weather. they do have a very good rep. and i haven't heard any complaints or problems, including vibrations.
