Factory T-Top Car or Not

We put them in the trunk on the floor in my dad's 87' 442. We use the cloth GM T-top bags the car came with. I can see damaging one in you are on a road course or something, but we've driven that car everywhere and we've never heard a rattle back there from the glass.

Not to try to hijack the thread, but what do you guys do with your T-tops when you are driving and you take them with you? I used to put mne behind the seats, but then my seat backs were cloth, and T-tops were easy to find. Now, I have plastic backs which are very nice, and the T-tops are getting harder and harder to replace.

My car came with black GM t-top storage bags. I put them in the bags and in the trunk. Big trunk, they fit fine, but I'm SUPER careful when taking them off and loading them into the bags. The tops are heavy and it's a little awkward as the factory bags are JUST large enough for the tops...they DO NOT move around in the bags.

No they actually sit flat and are of a fairly grippy vinyl. The tops themselves weigh quite a bit, which also keeps them from moving around. I would not autocross with the tops in the trunk, but have had no issues in normal driving.
