Guess I'll throw in my hat too.

First set of pics are in Mississippi after I traded a broken dirt bike for my 1980 Chevy Malibu Classic. She was completely original with a 305, 200 metric trans, and 2.29 rear and survived Hurricane Katrina as we were in the eye of the storm. The second set of pics are in Maine before the old-new motor went in and after we attempted a paint job. The dew point dropped and the clear coat fogged out on what was supposed to be a two tone paint with rally stripes. The last set of pics are the most recent here in Texas. I didn't like the first paint job messing up and I didn't like the dull colors. So I wanted a color that stood out, so hot rod red jumped off the page.

At that point in the pics, it had a mild 350, 350 trans, and a 3.73 rear out of an 86' monte ss. Suspension was fully rebuilt with cargo coils, Moog S10 front springs, monte carlo ss quick ratio gear box, and rear sway bar which gave the suspension amazing handling characteristics.

But little over a year ago, the driveshaft snapped after a factory counterweight fell off the stock driveshaft. This destroyed the floors and trans bellhousing. So I decided to rebuild the entire motor a second time with better matching components. Then I wanted to upgrade the trans to a 700r4 so I could travel better on the highway with the 3.73 gears. Plenty of other upgrades and goodies such as Mark VIII electric fan, 2400 stall, 60103 Voodoo Camshaft, and plenty of other goodies to give the bu more race and autocross characteristics.

even though its not an olds powered olds dr78442 has my vote for sure, its got a subtle way about it and i like that

Here is my project, I done every bit of the work myself other than the vinyl top. The body was the worst part! Everything works just as it should, pw, pl, keyleaa entry, radio controls on the steering wheel, heat, AC, it also has a 12 bolt in it with f body disc brakes and a 410 gear. Hope you guys like it!

454 gets my vote. All the others are great but, if this is a 'customs' vote that one fits my idea of a custom... that really is a helluva lot of work

patmickinneyracing I love the car and always loved the quality of work you've done to the Bu... it's the colour that throws me off.. I want you to paint it black, white, or grey/silver... what do you say?

I'm casting my vote for dr78442. :friday:

I wouldn't mind doing black or silver, but I thought of them as being too neutral. The theme was originally was to give it the look and color of the muscle cars of the late 60's and 70's, rather than being another plain shoe box. Also painted the chrome to give the car more of a sporty european look. Maybe its because when I first got the car, I instantly was disgusted and it was the biggest granny car IMO. Just like the curious yellow on my roadrunner, I really like these bright colors that stand out and have that "in your face" attitude.

I think once its done, and I have the corvette rallys, SS front spoiler, and all the other stuff put on, it will really give the car a whole new look.
