Fill 'er up!

Those nice fat tanks full of gas, just walk away!

What you don't see are all the safety lockouts this station has. This fuelling station is managed by Shell, and the maintenance schedule they must keep on it looks well taken care off...the thing is spotless!

Tell me...have you seen how big the storage tanks are for the average gas station that are underground? Also, locations that are able to fill your propane tanks are so much more volatile! All that compressed propane!

CT, Shell and Ultramar has no ethanol in their premium gas.

I asked the local stations(Canadian Tire, Pioneer)...and they couldn't tell me, and it wasn't labelled on their pumps, so I didn't want to risk it. The airport is on my way home from work. It's $2 per litre, but I don't drive very far, or often.

Why does Aviation Fuel have such a high octane rating? Are the engines high compression or extremely advanced timing?
(I do appologise for the unusually serious question)😉

it you look at the CT pumps they have a sticker for 10% Ethanol for the low and mid grades, none for the premium. I have an A/F gauge in my GP and that tells me if there is any ethanol in the fuel, my carb will run lean if there is ethanol.

They use lead in the aircraft fuel to raise the octane level. It is illegal to use auto gas in an aircraft because ethanol is known the attract water and that can cause a number of problems when flying at altitude. AC fuel is not all 110 octane, it comes as low in red 80 to 87 octane.

Thanks for the link. One thing I noticed is that site lists no information on Husky, PetroCanada, or Pioneer stations. Sunoco merged with PetroCanada about 6 years ago, and they had 94 octane at most of their pumps before that merge. Now...I haven't seen an Ultra 94 pump in a while. Pioneer stations had 93 octane at some locations....haven't seen those pumps for few years as well.

I don't need the premium but that is the only version of gas you can get pure gas unless you go up north, the stations up north have no ethanol in any gas.

Here's an email response I got from Petro-Canada regarding ethanol and their Ultra 94... and I asked them about the only 2 locations in all of Ontario that has 94 octane.

Thank you for contacting Petro-Canada Customer Service.

All grades of fuel sold at Petro-Canada contain up to 10% ethanol.

Ethanol-blended gasoline is a fuel that typically contains up to 10% ethanol in unleaded gasoline. We use ethanol in our gasoline where legislation requires its use and where conditions warrant. The Federal Government has regulated that motor gasoline sold in Canada after Sept. 1, 2010 must contain an annual pool average of 5% ethanol. Different provincial mandates also exist, some with higher ethanol pool requirements.

In Ontario, Petro-Canada stations that only offer 3 grades of gasoline, (RegularClean 87 Octane (E-10 Regular), Plus Clean 89 Octane (E-5 Midgrade) and SuperClean 91 Octane), the SuperClean 91 will not contain ethanol.

At stations with 4 grades of gasoline (RegularClean 87 Octane (E-10 Regular), Plus Clean 89 Octane (E-5 Midgrade) and SuperClean 91 Octane, and Ultra 94 Octane), all grades will contain ethanol.

Also please note that our site locator is up to date on which sites carry Ultra 94.

Should you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

So, even their 94 octane has ethanol!
