Beautiful car and great performance!!! Not bad for a mild 307. My 86 442 had the ding strips on with the factory paint, and when I repainted it I missed them. I may add them next time. Is the red stripe a H/O stripe or custom? Typically I don't like 442 stripes that aren't factory correct because so many people put bad copies on cutlass' with lower chrome still on. But your strip looks good!!!

Sweet car...YOu bought the total package!!!! 8)

Swweettt car bro.....really nice. Love that color combo. Great price too. Wish I could find a deal like that!

very nice car, good to see one of these with a worked 307

Mine weighed 3,840 with a full tank of fuel, full size spare, & me at 215 with the Caddy motor. I would guess yours at about 3,550 with just the car. 14.2 at 96 is great out of a 307! Lots of guys have put near stock sbc 350s and don't run that fast. I'd peg it at about 225hp but with a lil more and a better low & mid range torque curve than a comprably built 305 or Ford 302. Whoever built it knew what they were doing and did a great job. Should make for a real fun & enjoyable driver. Shoot back in the day my box stock GN only ran 13.90s at 98/99 mph.

Someone had put those aftermarket gold stripes on it, I don't even like the factory gold stripes. I originally had the black/charcoal/silver stripes with the black side down on the edge of the silver. It looked good but still lacked pop. My wife kept saying it needs some red, boy was she right! This doesn't show but what I did was put red even with where the top gold stripe was, then black down to the silver 2 tone line then a charcoal stripe that fades down to the gray. It really worked, way better than I imagined, now the worst part is my wife gets most of the credit!
This is what I did first, note this last time I did away with the bumper stripes altogether.

Nice clean car!
You should have some two tone red/charcoal 442 decals made, that will really set it off.
The gold is a little contradictory.
The Grilles are my favorite 8)

Never seen anybody put the door ding strip on a 442. Although its possible the dealership did it.
All 442's came from the factory with them.
85's used gray only I believe.
86-87 were color keyed.
In 85 some 442's didn't come with them suposedly, there is a technical bulletin stating they wanted a more agressive look and to move away from the grocery getter look and some plants removed them even though the RPO tag will have the B84 option, 86-87 didn't do this.

I have one of those 1985 442's without the B84 on the SPID sticker. In doing some research for my "restoration", I found out that the body side molding that was on my 442 was added by the dealership when new (that's why it didn't look like the rest of them, it was thinner and didn't have any on the rear quarters behind the tires).

When I get it painted, I'll probably keep the molding off since I only drive it for fun. I don't know though.

I do hate when 442s are repainted and the 442 decals and/or the body side molding is not put in the right spot. It changes the hole look of the car, if you are going for a stock appearance.
