A 1996 Impala SS that i had seen for 5K. I had $3500 and went and tried to borrow the rest but with no luck. So i talked to the guy and told him to hold it for a week and he agreed. I ended up selling my 2000 S-10 to make up the difference and when i went back he sold it to another guy.. So i bought my Jeep. Oh well....The SS was really clean and had low mileage and i even tried to give him the $3500 as a down payment but he said no worries and that he would hold it for me. I know it doesn't refer to being flat broke but either way its one of countless "dream" rides that got away.

i want a 96 ss soooooo bad

I bought my 63 impala sport sedan 283 powerglide for 3500 bucks in 1999 with 37,000 original miles on it.....excellent deal right? then 2 days later a 63 impala ss 327 4 speed showed up down the street from me for 4500.....for sale by the original owner with 69,000 original miles with factory power everything......and a service record for every mile that was put on the car since new......I still have bruises on my *ss from kicking myself.....

Don't get me started on the 65 SS with a 4spd my buddy tried to sell me for $500. It was a project car but the body was really straight and everything all there just no engine. I had no moolah... Well he sold it to a cousin and now it sits in a field rusting away. I also love Impalas of pretty much any year as long as its a 2dr. I agree with Phoenyx this is depresssing! Thanks alot!! 😢

60's model chevy bel air. At the time I didnt have a car so I was searching around. My friend at work told me his sister was selling a bel air for 800. Car ran good. I just needed a tune up and paintjob. The interior was already done because she does it. Only had 800 but I tried to give her 6 because I wanted to have some money left to do the small stuff. I bought my regal instead.

Plenty of others too.....

Factory convertible g body cutlass with rebuilt engine and trans. Didnt have nobody to drive the other car back. EVERYBODY was at work.

Monte SS. Wanted 1200 for it but didnt have it all. He even said we could do a payment plan.

My best friends pontiac gran prix 70's model with pontiac 400. I love that car more than he do. Its not for sale but he will take 5gs for it.

about 2 years ago, a buddy of mine calls me up. he just picked up this car and was just gonna resell it. 71 monte carlo, solid body, original 350 ran and drove for $400! i have ALWAYS wanted a 1st gen monte, of course at the time i was unemployed and flat broke! he sold it within a few days. 😢

I have a real crappy story,
I was looking at a 87 grand national (my dream car) at some guys house who got into an accident on his bike and was in a wheel chair. He had the car since brand new and it had 43,000 kms on it. I had done some work on a few of his cars he was selling and asked him what he wanted for the GN. He owed me 5G's for the work i had already done. He says he'll give it to me for 5G's more (it was mint!) I accepted and went to the bank got the 5 G's 3 days later went to his place to drop off the job I did and his god damn shop burnt down to the ground taking the GN with it 😢

But the best part of this story is HOW the shop caught fire. His hired hand was cutting off some pieces of steel with the cutting torch and some stray splatter caught one of his cats on fire! who then ran into the shop (his hired hand didn't know) and burnt he place to the ground! I'm not gonna lie I hated my life for a good month after that.
But it's kind of a messed up story though lol

maybe he had paperwork from a conversion shop or something but it wasnt an option from GM.

Last factory cutlas conv was 1972. There were quite a few cutlass ciera convertible conversions running around in the 80's but never saw a g-body cutlass conv. But if you have its not A GM factory built, might be ASC or some other builder.

Dammit... I just sent an E-Mail to the seller of the Mini. I need it like I need to be shot in the head (which would probably be healthier...lol), but I have to know. Would it be feasible for my needs?(Modern 4 cyl swap and just keeping the shell and glass) I have some cash saved to replace the bald tires on my truck and it should be spent on tires, not a 4th car. Dammit though, when am I ever going to find another one I can hope to afford? I hate being a car guy sometimes. The thrill of the chase and the find can overshadow your sense of better judgment and keep you poor and disorganized instead of allowing you to clean up all the loose ends in your life. If I get it, it will quietly sit rusting in my back yard until I can get to it...which could be a long time...

Did I mention it is British, which means the wiring is cursed by The Prince of Darkness himself (Lucas) and the only places that won't have rust are the places where the oil leaks sprayed? But it's a MKII Mini!!! That means it will have sliding door windows and external door hinges. It won't actually weigh anything-maybe 1300lbs. Grrr.... Sorry... I need to vent this and it is the wrong hour to call anyone.
