Finding One Of Your Dream Cars When You Are Flat Broke...

OK...let's get a collection going for a Sentra then! If you've got a PayPal account, those of us that also have one could send a couple bucks each your way. If you were OK with posting your address, I'm sure people wouldn't mind sending you something to get you another ride. Like people have said, you have helped countless people on this forum (and I'm sure elsewhere), with your huge amounts of knowledge. so I'm sure we could all help you a bit.

Well, don't worry too much about me. I may be down, but I am definitely not out! I got some bites on a set of new Weld Draglites and a Cutlass dash I am trying to sell on Craigslist. If I sell them, it will raise about $400 for me in one quick swoop. I also got confirmation that the Mini was sold, but still have not heard back from the Sentra owner yet. It is probably better that I don't get another car right at this moment as I do need to finish the Cutlass, Spirit and rebuild my back porch roof that is literally rotting and falling to pieces right now before I take on another project. However, if I find a 5 speed Sentra for cheap, I will buy it. The fuel savings at current gas prices would be around $100 a month.

:edit: The Sentra has been removed from Craigslist, so I guess it too has sold. Had I not spent the day helping a friend run much of the contents of his house to the dump I may have got it, but then again it may have been God protecting me from myself that I didn't. (The friend got an offer to go to school for free with free room and board if he moved back in with his dad in Maine, so that was far more necessary a thing for me to do than buying another car)

It's probably for the best.

It seems that the "right deal at the wrong time" is pretty much the story of my life, so I feel your pain.

Two years ago, there was a killer '79 Olds Cutlass Cruiser in San Diego on eBay.
Ultra mint, less than 80K miles, V8, everything I wanted, with the exception of the horrid interior pattern, but that almost made it even better.

Thinking about it still pisses me off...

There's just something about a truly hideous late 70's interior that makes it good. I mean, think about all the ugly that was available at the time, like the AMC "Indian Blanket" upholstery in the Pacer, or the pea soup green that everyone seemed to love for some unfathomable reason. I guess it is that modern interiors are just so bland that it makes the ugliness of the 70's that much cooler.
