Fishing 2021

Hit my local river today...a couple miles from my house. My friend Bruce caught these 2 small mouth on the same lure at the same time on some ultralight equipment. Ignore that dipshit in the back ground.

The word dipshit slips through the filter.

That looks pretty cool. My biggest problem on the Lund was that the hull strakes caused turbulence/air bubbles and that interfered with the transducer signal at speed. I tried many locations but eventually the only spot it worked was almost right next to the engine lower unit. Even then the signal often got scrambled. So the deeper the transducer is below the hull the better but then that increased drag. Tough call on aluminum boats.
It worked fine even at full throttle attached to the hull on this one. Too bad Lund didn't include built in studs for the Transducer.

My grandson had to do summer school this year. He got an A- so it was well worth it. Yesterday was his first fishing trip and he could not catch a cold as the Fluke were wily. But as it got dark we headed back into the weedy creeks and he nailed 4 Stripers with a Knucklehead popper. All short so returned and then this Bluefish crashed the party so we invited him to dinner. thumbnail_IMG_1304.jpg

I almost forgot to share the trip Fishing Lake right after my Wife got out of the Hospital. We caught 10 that day, 9 Pike and one Walleye. Oh and the usual, 8 to 2 for her. She was absolutely exhausted for days afterward. I glad we went, we were informed that the dock was being removed for the season right after that due to damage. We will try getting out once more, it is going to be nice Saturday but my Wife is pretty sacked from treatment.

In recovery and went fishing straight away? I have to admire that. By us I get the usual couple of Blues chasing baby bunkers but the big push isn't happening yet. 80° days are not helping.

Unfortunately we haven't been out since, it took a lot out of her. We will try and get out this weekend, even if it is sitting in a chair just outside of town at our reservoir.

Fishing is big medicine. We call it Salt Water Therapy. I remember an old guy named Ray. We knew him from the party boats. When he retired all he could afford was to fish alongside the Cross Island Parkway at Little Neck Bay. There are big fish there and early Spring and late Fall are the best. He as very content to pass his time at the bay. One day as I was driving by on the parkway I saw a very old and frail Ray being forced into a car by his daughter and son-in-law. He was holding a fishing rod in one hand and pointing at the water with the other hand. . The Blues were tearing up a bunker school and he wanted some. You could tell they were being total A-holes and trying to drag him home so they could drop him off and be rid of him. He probably had to beg them to drive him over and let him fish a while. Saddest thing I ever saw.

She is amazing when it comes to fishing, actually she is just amazing.

Olds 307/403, glad to hear that your wife has managed to escape the clutches of the dreaded Canadian Health systm and is on her way to recovery and back to poisson (fish ala franglaise) hunting

Bonnewagon, sorry to hear that your wife is headed for surgery. Hope whatever they thought they saw is either benign or a ghost on the screen and that all turns out well.
