I was specifically looking for a friends 50s Plymouth but can not seem to find it. It is quite literally Charbroil® black.

I wonder if he goes for a drive in the country if the cows run and hide when they see it coming....

It looks good if done right. I think for an '80's American "Hot Rod" though, you should keep it in the dark gray - black - dark blue - silver - dark green range. Basically any color that looks evil.

^ EXACTLY like that!

I found pictures of the car (though not MY pictures) ... my pictures were before he found "monotone to be monotonous" and decided to break up the all black ... personally I did sort of like these flames (thought I preferred the all back) ... but they didn't stay long. He decided some horrible red scallops were better.

Between the shape and the paint, the car did kind of have a Weber grill motive to it.

I don't claim to be an expert, this is a question in general. . Primer is one thing, if you get a scratch or little discolor all you have to do is lightly sand it and or spray some more over the spot. But with gloss you can buff small scratches and water spots out like it never happen. If you got a little scratch or whatever on a vehicle with a flat paint job, how would you fix it without repainting the whole thing over again. From what I've heard is that flat paint is like painting with candy. It looks good new but if you have to repair one spot, you have to be real good to get a good match to the rest of the vehicle.

i deglossed my factory color with a scotchbrite and i like the look. so i'm thinking of using HOT ROD FLATZ urethane cream yellow paint on my cutlass. i'm gonna use thier epoxy prime/seal also. the paint has a UV protectant so that it won't flake or chalk like primers. maybe do the hood a flat black also or something i gotta think about it. i'm goin for the f-bomb look...i want it to look RAW and "Gutter". i have some spare bumpers that I'll probably do black...and i'm making some aluminum panels for to cover my woodgrain peices in the dash and door panels. i'm gonna engine turn them then have them powdercoated with a semi-flat clear...
