Hey guys my Craftsman 2-1/2 floor jack gave out on me the other day so I'm in the market for a new one. I've heard Craftsman jacks are terrible, but I don't have the money to go after something from Hein-Werner or Milwaukee. I'm looking to spend under $150. Anyone have any positive experiences with brands they can recommend? There is currently an Arcan jack I'm looking at here http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/ ... _200345429 but I'm looking for other suggestions too. Thanks to all who reply.

I use a harbor freight 2.5 ton, rapid pump(not really) jack to get the car up, but I would be damned to get under it(or any other jack) without a pair of jackstands. I think I got it for about $90 with coupons, maybe less.

I bought mine from Big Lots. It's not the smoothest acting jack but it works well enough for the amount that I use it.

I have a Walker jack that I've had for probably 30 yrs, or more. It's been quite a workhorse over the years. If you can get a rebuilt Walker, I think you'd be happy with it.
From what I recall, rebuilt jacks were offered at one time. New ones may be pretty expensive, and may be under a different name.
I also have a Craftsmen jack which doesn't hold a candle to the Walker. I bought it at the time because my jack was leaking.
I was in the middle of rebuilding my front end.

You may also look into one of the aluminum racing jacks from Harbor Freight.

I used to have a couple Craftsman floor jacks the first one lasted many years before failing and the second one blew the seal while I was trying to get a car off jack stands but was under warranty so I got an even exchange after finding a Sears that had one in stock and then that one died again a year or so later.
Now I have Harbor Freight steel floor jacks, the yellow 3 ton I've had at least 7 + years and it gets used quite a bit.
The silver one is a low rise 2.5 ton I bought a few years ago to help me jack up my car from the side so I can get the other jack under the front( I have low ground clearance) I don't think I paid more than $75 for either jack when they were on sale.
I considered the HF aluminum racing jacks but can't justify the added expense since all mine do is roll around the garage and occasionally out on the driveway.
besides both of mine work great.

I had a Craftsman that lasted about a month before failing. I would have exchanged it, but Sears didn't have one like it; so they just refunded me my money. I went down the street and bought a Big Red 3 ton jack at the Pep Boys. It's still working fine 4 years later.

Have a craftsman 4 ton jack it's got to be 7ish years and works perfectly. Originally got it for my lifted k 10
