So I've slowly been replacing the floor pan in my car since its at the body shop getting ready for paint figured I would attach pictures to share my experience doing a full floor pan with the engine and trans in. Still gotta weld the front and rear of pan in and I can update pictures when done

The sides that hold the floor pan were rusty from the moisture in the carpet so I got a donor floor and cut and welded onto mine

Everything underneath and in-between the welded panels was costed with por-15

Hope you found all the drips and smears on your body before the stuff set. Once it hardens POR 15 will come off, by wearing it off, or by hanging a wire wheel off the spindle on your 4.5 and winding it up. Also works for unwanted tattoos. I found out the hard way that the stuff will penetrate a tyvek bunny suit. Fortunately it was in places that regular clothes would hide. LOL

I know this post is a bit old but that was a lot of great information. I’m pulling the frame on my 87 442 t top. And this weekend noticed some bad rust rot on the driver side. So I removed drivers seat and peeled back the carpet on the edge and sure enough I could see the garage floor. So since I’m stripping it all down I thought whole new floor but as nick mentioned a new floor doesn’t include the edge seem/ inner rocker. I don’t know yet if I can purchase it or what exactly I’ll be led to do. Just got my plasma cutter and mig/tig welder in a couple of weeks ago and auto rotisserie coming this week. But it sounds like it’s not a job to do without supporting the whole bottom of the car or would it just be better to do it before pulling the frame? I haven’t gotten to the point of exposing enough to show good pictures. I’ll try to show more in the future.

As far as I know the inner rocker flange is not available I ended up buying a parted out car body with a clean floor and rockers and ended up cutting all the spot welds and seaming it together but I still installed new floor pans so it lasts my life time and I did it with the engine and trans still installed not the easiest to do because its very difficult to drill and weld spot welds but i made it work and i did it with it on the frame so everything stayed straight otherwise you can use square tubing side to side and everything to keep it square

Yeah I think on the frame is the safest. There aren’t any doner options around me that I know of so I’m going to have to source some from somewhere not around me in the rust belt
