Ford 9” swap

There is NOTHING bolt in about that rear. You have to weld a ladder bar crossmember in and weld in brackets for the panhard bar or you can try to use a diagonal link between the ladder bars. Ladder bars are not really the best for street driving because they do not articulate well. Meaning, you can't twist the body. So like turning into a driveway apron has to be done more of head on than at an angle.

No it’s just a street car I might take it to the strip a couple times but it’s not going to be a drag car which is why I wasn’t huge on the ladder bars and I’m not making any crazy power but I wanted to put a posi diff in my rear end and for the price of this 9” I figured why not but yeah I was looking at housings and axles and they’re about 600 I might just go that route it’ll be a while before I get her in the car anyways

Do it right get the housing and axles for the car sell the bars/housing and axles to recoop some of your $$

Don't be surprised if there is a spool inside that pumpkin.................just a feeling..............hopefully I am wrong

Yeah that seems like the best option at this point the housings aren’t terribly expensive so that’ll be the route I go I’m sure. I was considering buying the brackets and grinding the ladder bar mounts off but for the time and effort I think I’d be better of buying a new housing

If your not making a lot of power a 7.5 will serve you well. Lot of monte ss rears out there(7.625). BUT - if you plan on making power down the road it would be money better spent now upgrading. If you do buy a new housing order it with ends you want.

I got the kit for my 82 El C. Original driveshaft worked. I agree with above. Unless you area really good fabricator I would get the right housing.

Personally I’m not a welder but I know a lot of professional welders who I’m sure could do it but I agree with buying a housing one off of eBay without the axles is a little over 400 and would be money well spent not having to mess around with it and yeah the 7.5 could handle what I’m putting out easily but I figured down the road whatever upgrades I make this rear end can handle it
