I know Ive seen it before but cant remember where and I cant seem to find it. I know to fit an LS1 pan in a gbody the frame has to be notched, I would like to know if anybody actually measured what they cut off, Also for the A/C compressor to keep it in its original location the frame has to be notched. If anybody thinks it might weaken the already almost 40yr old frame at all?

Why not use the CTSV oil pan? I see a lot of people are hardcore for the f body/ holley/ muscle car oil pan, but the CTSV pan worked flawlessly on my Monte with Zero cutting involved. fits like a glove and doesn't hang below the x-member. Really like the baffles in it also.

I was asking because my LY6 came from a UPS truck and has a pan with the same measurements as the Fbody ls1 pan. Basically I wanted to find out how hard it would be to just leave that pan in place and not touch it.

Post some pics if you can please. When I did my homework the only way to prevent the CTSV pan from hanging below the cross member was to use engine mounts that set the engine up higher which also creates a bad inclination angle. Mounts other than the Holley mounts will also cause hood interference with the truck alternator and intake if your going that route.

I used the ebay clamshell adapter plates on mine. only lifted the engine 7/16 of an inch. I'm using Corvette intake and accessories though.

The engine in the G body sits too high and too far forward already. A Holley pan fits so why not use that.

Keep in mind many of us did these swaps long before the Holley stuff was available. There still isn't a "kit" for some of the other vehicles I've done LSx swaps on previously.

If you notice from the pics, my oil pan fitment is impeccable. I guarantee Holley didn't dump nearly the money into oil pan design ( baffling, oil drain flow pattern, etc ) as GM did. As far as hood clearance, that's not an issue either. My swap "kit" cost me $450.00 for mount plates (new), new oil pan (complete), new headers and cross member modification. How much is that holley kit?

It's nice that an aftermarket has come along to do the swap kits. It doesn't make them the be all end all. I remember when everyone was riding the BRP band wagon also. I was just offering a different option than chopping the notoriously weak frame or spending much more on a kit.

My driveline angle came up almost perfectly at 5 degrees off the tailshaft yoke. Keep in mind people, the guys building the G-bodies didn't put much effort into quality control. I've seen the exact same setup with a truck intake clear the hood and others that hit it hard. Mine barely cleared the hood with the OE motor ( no aftermarket mods). Regardless which way I worked it, I was stuck with the LS intake.

I didn't like how close the accessory drive was to the steering gear so I did the math and ended up with Vette accessories. It actually worked out perfectly as far as space goes. I can have a turbo and still have plenty of room in front, above and to the sides of everything. AC is easily handled by relocating the compressor up above the WP and tensioner.

If you have questions, feel free to ask. I'm here to offer assistance and advice whenever needed.

Do as you wish, just offering options.
what did you use for mounts, pan and headers?
thanks
