Suggestions for frame paint. This frame is going under my Grand National. It's super solid with no wax coating on it.

Looking for ideas on a 1 stage spray and on a go. I am not willing to do the 16 part steps of prep. Just want to scratch it with Scotch pads and blow some paint on it but what is good?

I don't have a recommendation, but where did you get those rear control arms? Are they billet aluminum? I haven't seen ones like that before.

Do you have a proper GN rear to go with it?

I'd just use acrylic urethane black and spray it on... I used Rust-Oleum, satin finish looks great, but because I had to reduce it to spray it (and you're not supposed to) it doesn't seem all that stuff :/

The lower control arms are from ATR. I will not be using them. I want a control arm that can articulate. Solid or really stiff bushings are hard on mounts during articulation. Against GNVair's advice the upper Metco's will be equal length to each other. I will adjust them to stock length then fine tune both of them the same amount to get the pinion angle dialed in. This is for my 87 GN which has a G80 8.5" already in it.

Hey Streetbu, do you have any pics of your frame? How long ago did you paint it?

I like the looks of the rustoleum 7777 Satin black. They have a rusty metal primer as well as a clean metal primer. Heard good things every time it was mentioned and is what I'm gonna use.

Yeah in my build thread... Let me see if I can dig some up from when I did the frame off.

I sprayed. Thinned it which it says on the can not to do. Sprayed fine, doesn't seem quite as tough though. Finish is nice though. Note:I didn't use any primer on the frame first, just sprayed directly over bare, cleaned metal.

Just took this pic.

I sprayed the frame and all the suspension parts for my wagon with SEM Hot Rod black. Downside is the frame needs to be clean and it needs a good primer. I dont think many paints out there hold up as well as a good automotive paint with a hardener. Especially aerosols since the VOCs have been removed. I had my landscape trailer sandblasted, primed and sprayed with black implement paint. A year later the paint looked like crap. Seems like a lot of work for nothing unless you use good paint and prep it right.
