I have an 81 Cutlass I found a Buick 350-2 with TH350 26,000 miles for $600.00. It seems that I will take this route to put a larger engine in the car. I replaced the springs on the entire car but now I have a 1-1.5" higher stance in the front due to v-8 springs. Do you all feel this difference will even out with the new engine?

the springs will take some time to settle

In my experience the v-6 and sbc v-8 springs were the same..I could be wrong though... Any chance you threw a set big block springs in by accident ???

did you make sure the front springs are sitting correctly on the lower control arm and are not sitting on the fingers at the top?

I was wondering, being that the Buick 350 V-8 is lighter than a small block Chevy, could there be a weight differential in the spring rate? Just a thought.

I looked at the spring rate by moog and there is a 160 lb difference in the two springs. I did make sure that the fingers are in the recess and the car is an 81 so it would have had a 4.3 v8 not weighing that much more than the 3.8, so I hope they go down. If not looks like I am going back to the v6 springs.

Front end is still sitting higher than the rear with a big *ss engine in it.

Stumped.

Raise the rear or change out the springs?

Opinions?

I wouldn't be surprised if the rear springs are shot. I've had a few cars that needed them replaced. You can tailor your ride height too by going with HD springs or cargo coils. Just depends on your taste I suppose.

All new spring in the rear as well. I think I have teh spring wrong. It looks as if I need to be using a moog 5608.

When I first dropped my SBO 350 in, the springs looked way wrong....and the front end had no give. But, after adding the trans, the hood, the front bumber and header, it settled a bit. now she sits level and looks good. I used moogs springs for the 350 diesel so they are stiff. But over time, they should soften up a bit. good luck!
