a quadrajet with no electric choke, not sire on the numbers, bought it off of a guy who had it on a 383 but it was too small for his motor.
Most likely just needs to be re-jetted. Sounds like its dumping way too much fuel. That "smoke" you see when its cold is just like when you breathe and its cold out, nothing to worry about there

i got an 85 salon.............all factory 305 engine, 4 barrel, no major work done, 75 thousand miles, ticks like a german clock(lol) and i get around 350 miles to a tank. of course that at cruisin speed.....if ya start rattin around that number goes down fast

There was a thread on here a couple weeks ago that had a nice chart of popular jet sizes to each engine

well, i took it to a shop and asked them to time it and just check it out because of the horrible fuel milage and nasty bog, i've been pretty good on it lately, and sofar i've gotten 150 kms-top half of tank, and thats mostly driving like a grandpa.. but lets see how it goes, and if i still get horrible milage, ill be picking up a beater for the dd & making this a weekend car lol, as much as i love it, just can't afford it

my GP doesn't get the best fuel milage but with the cost of getting another summer DD, the cost to buy it and put it on the road, insuring it on top of my GP and the fuel it will take to run it and maintain it I think it works out to be cheaper to run my GP..

but then again even it was cheaper to get another car it's so enjoyable to drive my GP I'd find another excuse to keep on driving it..
