one line is supply from the tank, the other is supply to the carb and the third is the return lines

so could i switch to that pump and not use the return to the tank? I'm building a streetstock racecar and i have a fuel cell with no return and i dont want to buy a $125 regulator so i can have a return from my q-jet.

some have run a a T fitting in the supply line and hooked the return line to that but i dont think that would be a good solution or a permanant solution. i would say your main choices would be get the correct sending unit for your cell that has a return line on it or go for the regulator. i am currently using my vent line as a return line and it is building pressure in my tank so that won't be my permanent setup, i am going to have to drop my tank and switch my sending unit to a 3 line unit. i am not an expert with this stuff and am not sure if these are your only options.

Just use a pump that does not have a return line and your done.

Yes. I've capped off the line and had no problems.

However it would be easier and cleaner looking to just get the right pump.

in my situation i am using a stock rebuilt quadrajet and my olds rocket came with a 3 line pump, would swithcing from a 3 line pump to a 2 line pump be a fine change rather than swapping to a 3 line sending unit and running the correct lines for a three line pump.

im looking to do it right and wondering if just going to a 2 line pump wouldnt be cutting corners in any way, obviously it would be much easier and less expensive so it would make my life easier than changing my sending unit and adding a line

You can simply cap the extra port on the pump and not even buy a new pump. The return line is nice because it lowers the probability of vapor lock by circulating excess fuel back to the tank, but it's not mandatory. I've capped these many times over the last few decades. Never a problem.

i dont think yall get what im trying to do. I'd be using the third line as the return from the q-jet. or are you saying i can cap the return from the q-jet?

Now i'm starting to get confused. There should only be one line running to the carb, and no return line from the carb. Are you trying to run a loop from the pump to the carb and then back to the pump? Or pump to the carb then back to the tank? And why not just have it dead headed at the carb?
