I wish I had a picture, but i'll try to describe what I did. back in '88 I had a 79 Calais with factory 305 4bbl which was upgraded to a 400sbc, edelbrock dual plane intake and quadrjet carb. I added a '69 z28 style fiberglass hood scoop to the steel hood. this style of scoop hung off the back of the hood and almost touched the wipers when they were turned on. I cut a hole in the hood large enough to clear an air filter from an early 80'schev truck, these were twice as tall as a car filter, 6" tall. I cut a factory air cleaner lid down to the same diameter as the filter and attached with hardware store threaded rod. to seal it to the hood I took the seal that seals the hood to cowl panel (junk yard item) and ran it around the base of the factory air cleaner. yes I left the snorkel portion on the base, but you could remove it. this worked perfectly and sounded great.
