uhhhhhh, LS gen IV AFM failed, got lucky limping home, almost got stranded. if the camshaft had wiped a lobe, then it would have been a teardown and rebuilt.

But LS heads interchange with small block Ford heads with little work. This allows LS heads to fit very closely on Ford small blocks right off the bat. The head bolt pattern and bore spacing between the two are nearly the same.

So the one guy who actually did it noticed an improvement in reliability vs Ford heads I see.
It also means the LS is a Ford mutt.
Especially since it didn't require special tools to remove the seized spark plugs or need 14' of timing chain.I realize the LS is inferior to the older stuff, but putting it on the same level as Ford is just low.
could HAVE though, I was 3 miles from home and didn't know the consequences of the AFM failing. if I HAD known I would have seriously considered calling a tow truck. so effectively......So it didn't leave you stranded.
