I look at it this way, and this goes for a lot of vehicles on the road as well, new and old. The oldest G Body's are close to 40 year's old now. Naturally, automotive safety has made great advancements since then. Our cars don't have air bags, and have significantly less safety engineering built in front the factory. You can spend all the money in the world modernizing and re-engieering these cars to make them as safe as possible. But unfortunately, you will still be involved in an accident of some spectrum. Some will walk away uninjured, and some will loose their lives. That is the risk you take when you buckle yourself in (or not) to any car. I understand wanting to make these cars safer, I mean who doesn't. But the least you can do is the proper precautions.
-Wear your seatbelt.
-Drive with care, watch for that other person that will hit you!
-Make sure the minimal safety features of your vehicle are there and working (brakes, steering, lights, horn, seatbelts etc.)
