I will add, though, that I learned how to "drive" on motorcycles, from which I learned two habits: 1) always check tire inflation first, and 2) drive defensively (which means, stay aware of everyone else and always assume that other drivers don't see you).

Note though that 2 won't help at the track.

you do have a good point, speed can get you out of situations...
I've always believed a good defense is a strong offense.

see and be seen. command your lane, but always leave yourself an out.

You gotta take into consideration that can happen if it happens. I've gotta keep my body panels, having a '79 means very limited replacement if any at all.

I do have to agree sometimes the best defense is an strong offense. I also believe that not admitting fault helps as well. 🙂

Wowsers! These cars don't handle stress very well, but I knew that. I just drive like everyone else is a drunken ******* with a death wish. I'm rarely disappointed.

Most of the cars in these photos don't look too rusty. Lives were undoubtedly saved by energy dissipated into crumpling sheetmetal. That the driver of the purple El Camino walked away is astounding. There was footage of a 2009 Impala and a 1959 Impala in an off-center IIHS head-on collision. The spray of powdered rust from the Impala was amazing.

To the guy who asked whether he really needed the reinforcement bars in his Monte Carlo doors...I hope you see this thread.
