Well i pulled the a/c system from my GP a long time ago and started installing a non a/c box recently and am looking for the gasket for the heater box. Before i start the final install stage i want to avoid water leaking in... I think i found the gasket from Ebay but it seems GM also used a sealant of some sort.. anybody know what they used?

Does anybody have the ductwork and vent controls for a G body Pontiac non a/c heater box set up? I want to do the non a/c box swapon my GP. Basically does anybody have a Pontiac G body non a/c parts? I have ductwork for a El camino and a Cutlass i can trade or buy the GP non a/c parts ductwork. I am not having any luck finding the specific parts required HELP!!

The black hard sealant you see on the edges of the heater box is most likely weatherstrip adhesive... well that's what it looks like to me.

All non A/C heater boxes, wiring, dash controls and the two dash heater ducts are the same. The only things that change are the knobs on the dash controls, glove box, block off vents and the pull vents handles / mounting bracket.

My advice is... you have everything to put it together, just track down the (correct for Pontiac) chrome pull vent handles/cables at another time as you can access them and install them with the dash in.

when i replaced my heater box i used marine grade 4200 sealant. its 100% waterproof, flexible, and resistant to sun rot etc. works perfect and never had and leaks. Just dont get 5200 marine adhesive as it takes a special de-bonder to remove as it is considered permanent. the 4200 is considered removable.

I have used this for years,It works pretty good. you can get it at most body supply stores.

X2 on the Strip-Calk.

The factory foam gasket for the heater case is the same on a/c and non a/c cars.
If it didn't get destroyed during removal, you can re-use it.

If you don`t find what you need by this spring, shoot me a pm. My local yard has a couple non a/c lemans` still it and maybe a GP or 2. I should be able to get everything you need once the snow and ice melts.

Mike's MOnte's sells that gasket your looking for , something like $20.00.

Yeah that's it though i found it cheaper on Ebay... But as i was detailing my non a/c box i seen that they also had some type of sealant around the box..I unfortunatly ripped the gasket when i pulled the box from the 87 Cutty i found it in. But i am willing to use the 3M sealant around the box. Now deanlemans81 i personally have never seen a Pontiac specific non a/c g body set up but i am willing to bet that the ductwork is different... It is different between the Cutty and the Elky and though i think i can fab something to work i would rather keep it simple and use original GM parts. I can call it a day and use the parts i have already but i would like for all the heater vents to work. I know some parts are differrent and there are dummy vents but i don't what the Pontiac set up looks like..PM sent!
