Gauge swap

I'm sure lot's of people have done this- so, how bout some advice? On my '79 GP; its as easy to swap from idiot-lights to intruments as I think it will be? I just gotta swap the oil/temp senders and use existing wires?

Also, if I go to tach, it runs off distributor wire? Its too new to be mechanical, right?
