Getting the F' Outta Dodge.

I'm not overly happy with the Canadian immigrants that fly in every summer

They hiss at you when you're at the park and walk to close
They expect you to feed them when your minding your own business trying to have a nice meal with your family
They come in, have their kids and then leave them here once they are old enough to fend on their own
They crap in the open and don't clean up after themselves

Canadian geese are dicks.

Yeah, walk too close to a nest and you get the whole "Get off my lawn" speech. In Canadian dick/goose language.

I'll let you in on a little known secret. Canadians have a reputation for being so friendly because during each blue moon, we all hold a ceremony and channel all our hate and anger into the geese.

Inevitable every year there's some story about a runner or cyclist or something that gets attacked by one who decided to make it's nest near a pathway. They go right for your head too. They can do a fair bit of damage.

We took the kids to the zoo on Friday and watched a goose dive-bomb a mountain goat.

You'd swear they are winged honey badgers.

Also, they nest wherever they want, like right in the middle of a path or sidewalk or in a planter. They make mean faces and sounds. We didn't allow our kids' curiousity to manifest itself into stupidity and a trip to the ER.

CANADA GEESE ADVISORY FOR THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION

Situation

Defense Team members are reminded that NDHQ(Carling) is in the green belt and is home to various migrating wildlife such as Canada Geese. Please note that Canada Geese are a protected species and cannot be relocated once they have nested. Canada Geese are currently in the midst of their nesting season and can be territorial and may exhibit aggressive behaviour in this natural process. CFSG(O-G) is constantly monitoring the status of the Goose population and will deal with any disruption to operations with the appropriate trained and authorized personnel.

Direction

It is prohibited to harm a Canada Goose as they are protected under the Canadian Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994 (MBCA). Canada Geese: frequently asked questions - Canada.ca

A goose's aggression can be stopped by respectfully leaving its territory. Back away slowly, while remaining calm or avoid this possibility by giving the geese ample space.

Anyone harming a Canada Goose or any wildlife will be held accountable and subject to applicable laws and the National Defence Act.

If any Defence Team members witnesses someone harming a goose they are to report the incident immediately to the Military Police at 613-555-1234.

Although there is a large population of Canada Geese at NDHQ(Carling) this direction also applies to other DND properties within the National Capital Region.

Or a median?

Bought my first rifle today... and promptly gave it to my daughters.

I get to pass on more skills and knowledge: weapons handling, marksmanship principles, and dealing death.
