Round Patio Stones?? Now wondering why your daughters aren't pestering you to move those stones into a hopscotch configuration for them. Either that or lay a second bunch over by the BBQ and watch the drunks try to relive their misspent youth )Pro Tip: Use plastic glasses, going to be a lot of spillage)

Stage 1 of the trampoline high-winds mitigation plan: engaged. Stage 2 is in the mail.

Both products come highly recommended by folks in Oklahoma and Kansas.

So the plan is to drill some sauna tube sized holes in the ground, add fast setting concrete with a little bit of mesh/rebar included, and then shove those loops into the mix to act as anchor points for the trampoline belaying ropes?

After a disappointing first few hitless/contactless games last week and some extra batting practice to get her confidence up... tonight Tatiana got her groove back.

She'd waited the whole game to get her first at-bat and only (we split the evenings between practice and play). Before the bottom of the inning started I showed her that she needed to move well forward in the batter's box to account for the pitches dropping over the plate. This would put the ball into her wheel house with a level swing. She missed the first few pitches trying to get her timing and mechanics down. Instructed her to stand tall and follow through on her swing. The next pitch was a foul tip. The next pitch was turned into a booming flyball (questionably) foul to left field. After settling down in the confusion she went back to the plate, got set and smashed a mean line drive into left-center field.

Run! I yelled.

And run she did... netting an inside the park home run.

To the amazement of everyone at the diamond. Her teammates and coaches, opponents/classmates on the other team, her homeroom teacher (other team parent), and of course her father.

You could hear the other parents still talking about it after the game. I have an overwhelming sense of pride and joy. And no, Tatiana - Daddy has never done that.

Yesterday Tatiana and I gave the ol' JD D140 her 100 hour service - on basically it's 10th birthday. Oil, lube, and filter... and some hand sharpened blades.

Then I sent her out to mow a chunk of the property. She did well, despite almost driving into a slough. But, for her first time it was rather impressive. I got to finish it. Definitely a few treacherous spots, managed to hit a rock (poor blades), and there really isn't much space between the trees. A bigger mower is not going to be more advantageous here.

It really is transforming into a special place.
