HAFROD got me feeling all nostalgic with his "first project car" thread.

So, what about the rest? The lost loves and bad decisions?

Coincidentally I have been working on these poster-sized collages to be printed for the house and garage.

Believe it or not we owned all four of these cars at the same time.

1991 Sundance - HEMI orange turbo 2.5L with Turbonetics turbo and Spearco FMIC, 5 speed manual, Shelby stuff, exhaust dump, 4 wheel discs, etc. It leaked water, had epic electrical shorts, and ate engines thanks to me over-boosting it. We are pretty sure it was painted with a Wagner fence painting gun because it had crazy stripes in the paint that made it look like a watermelon. My brother blew it up once, and so did I. It sat in the driveway with a blown head gasket until it was sold as a roller. Natasha hates discussing this car - mostly because she could never learn how to drive it. One of the fragged pistons sits on my desk at work as a reminder that you really can have too much boost.

1991 Camaro Z28 - 305 TPI with lots of ported stuff and cam, WC T5 (fuel economy version), 3.08 posi, headers and dumped 3" exhaust, etc. Total rust bucket with fragged strut towers, front frame, and body holes everywhere, worn out suspension, and eventually died thanks to a rotted lead to the starter. Parted it out and made most if not all of my money back. This thing was a pretty cool piece of crap - never washed it once. Natasha actually wants me to get another one - weird.

2002 Camaro B4C - LS1 with a few free mods, remaned 4L60E from a Tahoe, 4.10 posi from an S10, Corvette wheels, polyurethane bushings everywhere, cat deletes and exhaust dump, worn out stock struts and shocks, etc. This was Florida State Highway police interceptor we bought from an importer in Kitchener (or London?) and the paint and bodywork was always suspect after the sale (a real piss off seeing as we paid extra for a repaint). It leaked power steering fluid like mad and ate alternators annually, and it was hit by a dump truck with Natasha was driving it which lead to a bunch of body shop *ss-pain. My brother and I did Power Tour 2012 in it, and it broken down and refused to start on the US-CAN border on the way home. What a nightmare of a car (Who am I kidding? We loved it), but parted it out last year.

1987 Turbo T
- Stock 3.8 with a big turbo and FMIC, TH400, 3.08 posi, big wheels and sticky tires, lots of suspension work, 4" exhaust, etc. This car was a notorious street race car before I took ownership; I was actually riding with a friend years prior and he refused to race it. When I did take possession it was a borderline rusty roller filled with a bunch of cool-guy go fast parts. I had previously purchased a worse rusting hulk of a Buick which had a good engine - and built one car out of two (and made a lot of money back on the spares). It got "restored" in 2006 and I immediately stuck it in storage, and went off for some good ol' Army training for the Summer; and then came to find out that my brother stole it after he blew up my Sundance and drove it to Windsor while I was away. Later I would drive it to my wedding for pictures in 2011, and gave my brother the keys for the day (never did get around to killing him). Sold it off as shown last Spring. Great car, but it was showing its age again and it was no good for the family. Used most of the money from the sale to hop up the TBSS and do Drag Week 2016 with my brother.

What are your stories?

Kinda wish I had hung onto my 89 turbo ta. I miss my first truck-73 Chevy c10 step side slammed on chrome reverse 15" wheels, cammed high compression 327, m22 Muncie, painted the same gray as an m16a2 assault rifle.....was not a fast truck but could keep up with the irocs at school(well it could beat the 305 irocs lol) but was a crapload of fun.
Had an 81 cutlass Calais with t tops that was actually on its way to becoming my dream car. Had removed the vinyl top, painted it white with black rocker panels and stripes, had 91 t bird buckets, had american racing vectors on it, had installed a 403 and all it needed was the trans and radiator installed....but was stolen before I got the chance.
There was the 89 ranger that the police did me a favor by impounding. Had planned on a 4" drop, 100 spoke 14"s, 347 swap, and to paint flat black with white tribals. I got as far as swapping in 240sx buckets, the 4" drop, and painting it flat black.
Only other project I let go I wouldn't mind having is my other 97 Monte I had. And that's just because I already have everything to supercharged 3800 swap it plus a bunch of suspension and interior parts to fit it.
Not really one to save pictures so not really any to show lol

Started with an 84 S10 Blazer 2.8/5 speed that needed everything. Gold with black under the lower body side molding. Had a rod knock within a few weeks of buying it. Put in a reman 2.8 and tried to restore it while I drove the wheels off of it. Had a 305 on the stand and most of the parts for the swap when I got rear-ended hard at a stop light. Pushed me into a Grand Marquis and just crumpled it front, back and both sides. Totaled. Heartbreaker. Drove it for 8 years.

Moved on to an 89 Chevy C1500 long bed regular cab 2wd. 305/700R4. Navy blue. It was a Chyenne so it didn't have the Silverado front clip and had a very Spartan interior. Great truck but I never had the money to do more than some chrome wheels and dual it out. It got really high milage and developed a drivability issue that I couldn't find. It would intermittantly barely run at the worst possible time and then it would be just fine. Spent every extra dime I had and every free minute I had for a month or so trying to find the problem before I gave up and traded it in. I needed something to get me to work. Drove it for 5 years.

Bought an 05 GMC Sierra 1500 regalar cab short bed. V6/auto 2wd. Navy Blue. It was a nice truck and my first new vehicle. Hated the V6. Loved the newness. Didn't do anything to it but take care of it. Drove 50k miles and traded it in. Drove it for 3 years.

Bought an 08 GMC regular cab short bed. 5.3/4L70E 2wd. Metallic brown. Started modding it immediately. Borla cat back exhaust, then Dynatech headers, then a DOD delete/cam swap, then underdrive pulley, LS3 throttle body, Circle D 3200 stall torque converter, built transmission with Sonnax input shaft/drum, Beast sunshell, Vette Servo, Transgo HD2 shift kit, etc., etc. Swapped the rear gears from 3.73 to 4.10. Swapped the 17" alloys for 20" Silverado alloys. Dropped the front 4" with 2" drop spindles and the rest with drop struts. Dropped the rear 9" with a flip kit and by removing the cast iron blocks between the leafs and the axle tubes. Had bought a bare 6.0 block out of an 08 2500HD with plans to build a 408 stroker when I bought my GP and got distracted. The truck is my dailey and it this point I just drive it and keep it up. It has 140k miles on the clock.

My wife's 86 Cutlass Supreme Brougham...a doctor had traded it in. We test drove this and a 86 Monte SS. The SS had been driven pretty hard so she decided on the Cutlass....both cars were only about 3 or 4 years old at the time. She talks about it every now and then..

Running boards? Never thought someone would put a set on G body.

It is a Canadian thing. I have seen it at least once.

Yeah car came with them...she wanted to keep them...thought it would keep crap kicked up from the wheels off the car. They were actually pretty common on alot of Gbody cars around here. I posted numerous pics of Gbody stuff with running boards. I swore at them repeatedly...she picked up our young son from the sitter one day and he was running towards the car...trip and banged his forehead on one of the boards and ended up with 4 stitches!

That sounds familiar. When I was little, I ran around the corner of the house head first into the lowered tailgate of my dad's 75 GMC 1/2 ton regular cab long bed 2wd, requiring stitches, circa 1980.
