I've got two Dynomax Super-Turbos on my Monte. They sound good. A bit too mellow for the car though, IMO. A Monte SS should be a bit more rambunctious. But if you put a flowmaster on the newer 3.8, it has this terrible noise when you let off the gas. The Dynomax sound would be better for like a Regal GS. The SLP kit is suposed to sound real nice though.

As for the old 2bbl 3.8, I have no muffler on it now at all. It sounds real cool. Burbly idle, nice rev, etc. But it blows so much smoke when you first start it that it looks like a Cheech and Chong video. lol. I can't have that. And as I said, I bought a Thrush Turbo and slid it over the exhaust tubing, and it was so muffled. It sounded... Well... Not to my liking. And the Dynomax kinda does the same. My friend is selling two Dynomax Super-Turbos though (only used for a month) for like 20 bucks, I may jump on that and try it out. But no, I don't really want to spend 90 for a muffler when i have so much else to do. Especially for this stupid V6. So we'll see..........

I think your right, you should save your money and put it towards wiser improvments IE: motor swap. Working on that 231 would be a joke. You have the right idea!

red....average said he blows smoke when first starts the engine so I think that would be the valve seals leaking and not the rings....

Well regardless. lol.

A kid suggested running a striaght pipe in place of the cat (I'm putting classic plates on it so I won't need to pass emmisions). Would that work well? My cat is probably clogged to beat the band anyway. That plus a good turbo muffler sound like a reasonable place to start?

Well the quick answer is "Yes". But for starters in most states you have to have a vehicle that is 30 years old to get collector plates. I'm not sure what the law is in PA but I know around here that

Yeah, PA is 15 for a classic plate and 20 for an antique. Or something along those lines. But I know for a fact that the one is 15 years because my girlfriends dad got one for his 91 Trans Am WS6 this past summer.

Well there you go. If you know that your car qualifies for collector plates then you should go for it. Insurance will be less expensive. And no emissions, I don

right now i run open shorty headers, frankly because i'm too poor to afford a real exhaust, i've discovered as long as i'm just putting by the cops or somthing their not gonna give me any crap.
