The TFS head will outflow the present cast iron units & help w/compression. They have a larger volume @ 195cc which would be better suited for supporting pieces (cam timing events better matched & intake/induction to support the cam/head flow).

Seems 170-180 would compliment the 'as-is' cam for better velocity. I def can't see them hurting you though.

Evaluate the RPM where your engine does most of its time. Cam and chamber your engine to maximize that. Street cars rarely see time above 4000 RPM, and most cruise at 2000-2800.

Update
Finally got all my Rear End parts in , Going to start Disassembly this weekend. Doing a full rebuild , all new Bearings ,seals ,Poly bushings ...
As for heads looks like I will be getting either the The TFS-30410001 or the Summit Aluminum , both have a Carb OE # so they will pass the California Smog Police . TFS are my first choice , but they are out of stock with a ship date of 10/21 , But with Covid 19 BS I don't think that's reality . So the Summit are my back up choice.

back 10 years ago, xe268 cam, vortec heads, decent carb, 1.6 roller tip rockers on a gmpp 290hp short block would get you in the 350 to 400 hp range. Enough to tear up some tires but not enough to start breaking stuff unless you try real hard. Is yours a "roller"block or have the provisions ( being the bosses in the lifter valley to mount the spiders for roller rockers ?) or an older motor ( like mine )

Visually almost all the first gen SBC are the same. You can have 267 badges on a 383 and no-one could tell the difference without tearing the motor apart.
