GM Planning to Close Oshawa Assembly

Who buys cars any more? Only ones I see are domestic fleet cars, and consumer imports.

Trucks trucks everywhere....except most of them are more like cars with an open-top trunk

Try to find a GM half ton built after '99 that can do truck stuff. My current ('14) & last truck ('08) were Z71's with only 3 leafs in the springs, the one before them was a regular K1500 ('96) & had 5 leafs. The '14 has less skid plates than the '08 had & both came with 18" "station wagon" tires.

GM learned from Ford not announce that they were no longer making cars. They'll just quietly close all the car plants and just make trucks. And when the economy slows and/or gasoline spikes again, they'll still be cranking out 6000 lb SUVs. Sold my New GM shares as soon as the price went $1 over when I purchased them. Bailed just in time.

Glad I kept the K30....and my 6.2 and Banks turbo kit. I might be driving on french fries yet.

If there is one vehicle that summarizes my hatred for new GM, it's this-

"Yeah let's take a made-in-Korea, inbred, Daewoo-wannabe subcompact sedan, put a hatch on the rear, slap a Chevy badge on it and sell it as an American SUV. Then people will want to buy them!"

Billy Durant is probably turning in his grave.

Man always hate to hear about the loss of good paying jobs for the [ working man] no matter where they are ! Heard on the news tonight GM going to close 5 plants didnt say where , to focus on electric and antonymous cars . Sounds like B.S. to me .
Besides loosing UAW jobs you have all the contractors and vendors that work at these plants. When they retool the plant hundreds of local tradesmen are put to work. I worked at Chrysler in Newark, DE. many times over the years. When they closed the plant the local economy was devastated. Buy American!

Just another nail in the coffin for GM, it's been heading this way for years, no surprise. Last "new" GM i bought was in 99', haven't found too much after that and even that was a stretch and what the wife wanted.

Saw a bit on the local news about the Baltimore transmission plant with a soon-to-be-unemployed worker, and he mentioned that he could find a new job or relocate. I wonder if GM is paying for moving costs. Gov. Hogan is quite pissed about 300 jobs leaving the state.

I already knew this, but GM closing plants just re-enforced the nonsense that, "THE ECONOMY IS BOOMING!" lol!

Look! Like all media, they lie by ommission. Here is simple, incontrovertible, proof they never mention on the brainwashing financial shows:

Build sh*t cars this is what happens.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is all bullshit just to get $$$ from the government to "Keep jobs in America"
