Ummm... the Versa is US built in Tennessee and a better car. The Aveo is South Korean and built for GM by Daewoo. I do not drive American cars because they are not reliable enough. I expect 300-400k miles of pizza delivery from a car or truck without changing the engine. I am not here to help mediocre or poor companies survive on my dime. If they want to get my business, they can start by making the best product for my money. GM and Chrysler do not do that, and so I will not darken the door of any of their showrooms. I am not going to bankrupt myself with a low quality car that breaks down all the time just to "save" an American company. Ford stands a chance at getting my money when it brings in the Fiesta from Europe, but GM has the crappy Cobalt and Chrysler the horrific Caliber. None of them represent a decent value for someone making $23,000 a year and delivering pizza.

I also want to see the Domestics do poorly because it screws union workers. I try my best to NOT buy from union companies as I want them to lose their political power. After all, they support my political enemies on the left, so there is no reason I need to support them.

Yes, Nissan Versa is built in the US, but look where the profit goes, Japan! US built cars are no less reliable IMO than foreign. They all have problems, even some of the same problems. It is the stigma on the US automakers that makes people think they are not reliable. As for the unions, they have made conditions and pay better for the companies without unions because they have to compete with companies that are unionized. I see no downfall in that respect. I do admit there are some things that are not good about unions, but they do have their place.

I think that the level of reliability between domestic and foreign cars is closer than the level of quality - where the domestic cars have a bigger lack. And I think that GMs cars are ugly anyways. Its like the G8 really was too good to be true.

The G8 was the last thing GM did that made me take notice. It was a really great car (that was WAY out of my price range) that lasted for what, a month, month and a half on the market? If I was in the market for something that spendy, I would probably have bought one. However, until I get a real job all I can afford is a robust, cheap appliance, so I get the best appliance my money can buy. Right now, that is the 329,000 mile Nissan Frontier I already own.

The GM badge means nothing all the cars look the same anyways. It can stand for "Government Managed" now!! I lost all hope with them since they got rid of Pontiac!!!!!

I agree! I own 4 cars right now,& you can see them in my sig.Zero significant problems with ANY of them.No I dont own any cookie-cutter lookaloike new ones right now.But to label ALL USA builtr cars as substandard is just a really dumb statement to make. You can generalize all our products, its just an error on your part to do so Yeah, one of mine has a j* nameplate, that I bought around 4 years ago,but at least it was built in Louisiana

So big deal they are taking off the little tiny silver GM badges from the lower fenders. All the news wants to do is nitpick every little negative thing GM is doing.

not a big deal the GM logal was a new thing any way my 01 GP did not have the logo neather does my 03 olds minivan. i think it started in 2005-2006
