I'm 17 from Ontario, Canada and im looking to buy my first Olds. It's a 1984 Cutlass Supreme 2 door with a 307 V8, auto. My question is it a good car to buy? I was wondering if I could get some helpful information from you G-Body gurus out there of what i should expect from this car, what to look for, what to reapir, what to replace those kinda things 😛. The ad says it had 150,000 kms but the speedo only goes up to 5 digits so it could be 250 or even 350! lol. Thanks for everything, look forward to your responses.

Ask alot of question to the seller. Has the engine and trans been rebuilt and when. look for rust, doors,fender,1/4 panels, frame. Has it been in an accident? If you can post some pic of the car that would be better.

put it like this, for only 500 i'd buy it, even if it breaks down a week after you buy it you could always make a profit by parting it out or even better drop a better eng/trans combo and make you a nice street machine BTW good looking car, only looked at first two pics

IF YOU DON'T BUY THAT CAR, I WILL PERSONALLY COME UP THERE AND GIVE YOU A SWIFT KCIK IN THE *ss!!!!

the body parts alone could get your 500, providing the're not rotted alone, so if it is a dead junker, go that route, but if not, save it from becoming one

hahaha awesome. My intentions are to buy the car because i was thinking the same as you guys, its a great deal for 500. If i did get it, im hoping to keep it long enough to put a Olds 350 Rocket with a TH350 transmission and maybe some 3:08 or 3:23 gears for the rear end. For paint wise, i dont mind the two tone brown so ill eventually get it repainted those colours. I've heard that g-bodies are particularly weak in the rear end of the frame as sincei live in Canada we use salt on the roads. How can i check if tbese rails have been rusted?

hey guys im from ohio. i had sorta the same question about the frame rails. i have a 1980 cutlass brougham 4 door with the 305/th350 combo. we have some pretty nasty winters here too. when it decides to. and my rear frame rails pretty much look like swiss cheese. i do know its from years of salt and water build up. i do know the ways it couldve been prevented. but i bought the car that way. since the car has less than 92k original miles and all factory everything still works, i bought the car. craigslist is great for suckers who dont know what they have. but my question is how can i take care of this problem without a frame swap? it is my daily driver/family vehicle, and i would rather not have any down time with the car if necessary. and as far as im concerned, anything is worth doing to this car. its just as part of the family as my dog. so please gimme some pointers. thanks

thanks for the info. ill be calling in the next few days. its greatly appreciated.
