That is a good point. Are there any 28 spline axles in the length I need for the Cutlass? Will F-Body or S-10 truck axles work?
I have read that the 28 splines are beefier than the 26, but don't want to drop a lot of cash in the 7.5" with custom axles. I'm just looking for better acceleration on the cheap for now until an 8.5" comes around.
Also, if the gears are out of a 7.625"/28 spline, will they work if I go with the spacer/2-Series carrier? Sorry for so many questions at once. Thanks for the help.

The gears will still work. And the only stock 28 spline axles will come from a g-body 8.5 rear. Not always the easiest thing to find. But you can always go aftermarket, kinda ruins the cheap part though.

I used the 7.625" gears with a spacer with my 7.5" 26 spline carrier. Are the 28 spline axles are beefier ? The 28 spline 7.625" spider gears are more even sized and larger. About a 1/4" larger than the 7.5" spider gear assembly. If I completely fry my 7.5" No Slip on my car, the 7.625" 3 seres carrier and a Lock Right for that carrier with 26 spline axles will go in. The No Slip supposedly has more warranty issues than the Lock Right.

That wouldn't be so bad, since I plan on running an 8.5 in the future anyway. Right now I'm driving the car pretty often, and I am going to try to do everything big all at once in the future.
Thanks for the info.
BTW, this may be a dumb question, but, doesn't the 7.5" still have the C-Clip axles? If so, I'll definitely install the clip eliminators while I am in there.
