I have a question for the body guys here on the forum. ( Rktpwrd jlcustomz Clutch ) I was looking at pictures of Grand AM's and noticed that the fender lips have a bit of a flare to them. I was wondering if it would be possible to graft them onto a Grand Prix? Now I know anything is possible with enough time/money, but was wondering if it would be a cheaper and easier option than having custom ones made? I don't even know if a Grand Prix would look good with flares? (I think they work on almost anything)
Food for thought!

The hardest part might be finding 4 of them that aren’t rusted bad. Then theres patching to your inners. I think it would look pretty good, depending on your abilities. Alot easier than starting from scratch.

Unfortunately my Grand prix is pretty rotted and the previous owner decided that the best way to fix it was to go ham with a gallon of Bondo.
So already my fenders are in need of major repairs. This car will be my first attempt at body work but I will have the help of people who know what they're doing, as well as the awesome information shared here by other members.

The body of the grand am looks to just be a rebadged Malibu. I imagine you could probably use parts from one of them, but it’ll be a major undertaking.

The fender wells on the Grand Am apear to be rounder than the Malibu from what I can see in pictures.

This is gonna be what it all comes down to, the general shape of the wheel opening. If the shape is close, it’s definitely feasible with a little work.

The shape of the openings on my Cutlass is quite similar to that of a Malibu, and this exact mod is one I have planned on the books for The Juggernaut. I’ve already located and cut out 4 Malibu fender flares and will be grafting them onto the Cutlass fenders.

Here’s a couple pictures from a few years ago when I played around a little bit with mocking them up.

Grand Ams are definitely more of a flair than Malibu. Cut all the rusted area out of your fenders and make sure your donar parts are bigger. I hope you or your friends have a welder. Since you stated this is your first A/B project.

I couldn't have done what I did with the wagon if it didn't have the flared wheel arches. I will say this, if your parts are rotted, cut 'em out.

$370 saves a lot of heart ache:

Guess the question is: what are your ultimate goals?

I have access to multiple welders and this won't be my first welding project. I already plan to cut out all the rot and have been in communication with a member in Texas who has a good body that I am hoping to get panels from to replace what I cut out. It's already going to be a big project, I know that. Seeing as Grand Am's are so rare I think I might go the route that Mike has suggested.
