"Grand Nasty"

I started answering this thread earlier and maybe I shouldn't now. I think it's kinda funny when someone does something out of the ordinary in this collector car - hobby that we start calling it sacrilegious. It's his car, he bought it, and he can do what he dam well wants with it. The fact is he has fuxk-you money and a $100,000.00 doesn't mean anything to him. If I had stupid money there would be a lot of things I would pay someone do and having a car built to my liking would probably be one of them, but none of us will probably ever be in that position and it just might be a jealous thing. I wonder if we would get a difference opinion if that was a 1200 HP V-6 Buick. 1200 HP street car???? but once again it's his car. It is a beautiful car.

300 hp weakling lol.

I didn't even see the low mileage. I still don't mind! A car that old with so few miles is a garage queen. "Destroying" a GN is one thing. Entombing it in a garage is another. What's a better life for a GN? Sitting in a garage like an old toy that was never taken out of the box and enjoyed? Or showing up in articles lookin' damn fine with a metric butt-ton of horsepower?

Are we museum curators or are we car enthusiasts?! 😀

I feel the car is an exercise in excess - and I love it. It is cleanly executed and not particularly gawdy, and if it can perform to its potential all the better.

That said - I find his "posing" with the car irritating. It is pretty audacious to posture in front of something you had nothing to do with the creation of. Do people do this in front of their TVs, couches, toaster ovens? No... or at least I hope not. Because you are just a consumer - and this car is no different - it is a commodity (parts and labour brought together by another) and paid for by you.

Just because you bought it, doesn't make it yours.

I see the posing as a community service. When you are in Phoenix and you pull up next to a GN with no roll cage and that guy driving, you wave and say "nice car" and you don't throw a rev his way.

Meh. He'll just be spinnin'...

There is a difference between a 300HP car and a 1200HP car spinning.

300 - 500HP cars aren't spinning the tires @ 6000 in 4th gear with 160mph tire speed
... with no traction control, no stability control and no ABS.
