Hi all, this is my first post and hope it’s in the right stop, but.... my question is I’m looking at a rear end that is a 8.5 10 bolt that came out of a grand national. I’m just not sure of the value of it with and without a posi unit. They are wanting $1500 and it’s supposedly a posi with 3.42 gears. Any help as to the value of these rears would be much appreciated. Thx

It's the going price unfortunately. I'd say count on it needing clutches and bearings, but I'm quite pessimistic as well. You are taking a risk though, it could need clutches, gears, side & spider gears, axles and brakes.

But, as long as it isn't bent, then it will hold it's value if you find it's a basket case.
Everything looks pretty decent, only thing missing is the hubs.

I know it’s hard to see but it’s the only picture I have of it. Im supposed to pick it up tonight. I was over there yesterday trying to find the axel codes. And it looked pretty decent.

Hopefully it all checks out good! I can say I scored big time last year getting one for $900 with the factory posi and 4.10 gears. Looks like you will be spending some time with a wire wheel and some good degreaser!!!

I personally wouldn't spend that much on an old used 8.5 but if you really want one they are few and far between. I wouldn't put any money into the 7.5 but invest in better. There are a few options to go on, I went with a bolt in 9 in both my cars (Moser & QP) All new, order w/ the axles, splines, and ends you want
