Grandpa Car: 1979 Cutlass Thread

Sorry for your loss, other than that its a good story, and very clean ride. I'm sure he will be watching from above, happy his cutlass is getting what It deserves.

Throw some Rallye wheels on there and you're golden.
Crazy you even bring that up. I'm actually going to look at a set tonight. I'll keep you guys posted.

I never really liked them much. I have my heart set on some Cragar Eliminators but I'm sure I'll have close to $1200 in a set with tires and lugs. The rallys are pretty cheap and I can reuse my tires. I think they'd be a nice change while I save up for the Eliminators.

The rallys I'm looking at tonight have been painted black. What color do you guys think would look good? I was thinking either the darker shade of blue that's on the hood, roof and trunk or possibly gold (nod to the 442). Any thoughts?

These are the ones I picked up off the pace car I think they look good in gold

I think silver would look good. Goes with most any other color. Or maybe white...or couldn't go wrong with body color 😀

The dude flaked on me. I see the ad is down and he won't return my calls. Oh well.

Zero progress to report. I've been distracted by an engine swap in my 510. Not completely done but I've been driving it for a couple days. Much better 8) .

Picked up a set of staggered 14x7 and 14x8 Appliance Wire Mags for the period correct look. They're in pretty decent shape but the PO put some scratches in them in an effort to "polish" them out so I'll need to spend some time to get them right. I found a set of center caps at Hubcap World for $5 each too. Now I'm toying with the idea of maybe getting some 2 or 3 spoke spinners from eBay instead.
