New to this forum, but not new to forums. My latest prize is a 87 Cutlass - a true 'barn find'. Two yrs ago I built a nice SBC and put it in front of a Super T10 in an 81 Camaro that my son and myself had played with off and on for 10 years. The Camaro was fun to drive with the lopey cam, but not very comfortable. I had a 02 Camaro SS 6 speed that I got in 2012 that I had only put 7K miles on in 8 yrs. I sold it 4 weeks ago. That freed up some $$ and I had wanted a G body to put the SBC in. The following week, my son happens to see this 87 Cutlass Salon peeking out of a shed in a rural area close to home. Been parked there for 17 yrs. I couldn't believe what a treasure this was. Bucket seat interior, factory gauges, pwr windows and seat, and NO RUST. None on the frame, doors fenders floorpan, trunk - none! Made a deal with the owner and 2 days later, brought it home. The same week, I acquired a used Tremec TKO 600. Already have the Sickspeedmonte clutch pedal kit installed, the original 307 Olds engine and trans was removed. Last week a trip to the junkyard found a serpentine belt setup from a 94 Chevy trk. Got the interior out ready to dull some saw blades on that floor to make room for the Tremec. My plan is to keep the HVAC system stock, and the exterior original appearing. BTW, this is the 3rd automatic trans car I have converted to a stick. I have read many of your forums already - you can learn a lot from folks that have plowed the same ground. Now don't get mad at what I am going to confess - I actually bought a new 87 Grand National. And sold it in 91. Yea, makes me kind of sad also.
